Definition of Craps Dice

Controlling craps dice is really all about how you shoot the dice when playing at a craps table. There is a very strong belief among certain schools of craps that it is possible to achieve specific results at a craps table based on exactly how you shoot the craps dice. There are a great many craps players who really believe that this concept is true and is also highly effective. In order to fully utilize this technique properly, there are a few very important elements which one needs to be aware of. These elements include how you set the dice, the manner of your dice grip as well as your ultimate delivery.

Setting of the Dice

The way in which you set the dice is of great importance. When someone refers to the setting of the dice they are referring to the way in which you would set up the dice in your hand prior to shooting. One of the most often used settings is known as the three v setting. In the three v setting both die is set so that the three on both face upwards and also adjacent, forming the familiar three v shape.

The next step in the process is known as the grip. When someone refers to the grip it means that they are talking about the dice is actually held in your hand. There are a number of different ways to do this, some like to use all of their fingers while other prefers to use only three or even two. In any case you will need to pay close attention to gripping each of the die equally, with the same amount of pressure. Consistency is key; you will need to ensure that the same technique is used each and every time you shoot the dice.

Delivery Process

The last phase in the process is the delivery. This is the final stage in shooting and you will need to throw the dice in such a way that the hit the opposite table wall. Pay very close attention to the way you spin the dice, how fast you let them go and your aim, where you intend the dice to hit or land. Once again consistency is the key. In order to achieve maximum success, you will need to practice a great deal, be sure to practice all three phases equally.

Craps Pay Outs

The results of every roll of the dice in craps according to the majority, is all dependent on luck. There are those that believe that the results of each roll can be manipulated based on the way the shooter controls the roll, his grip and so on. However, putting aside either theory and concentrating rather on calculating the best odds will help tremendously in enjoying a more successful craps game.

How Odds of Rolling Work

Understanding how the odds of rolling certain numbers works can help players make better decisions on which play to go for and which bets to make based on the odds of certain dice rolls. It also helps to have the knowledge of the odds of each and every possible combination between both dice coming up and this information can be presented as follows.

The hardest numbers to roll are two or twelve, this is because both a two result or a twelve result can only be achieved by a single combination of the dice, so that is either one and one resulting in two, or six and six resulting in twelve. This can then be further calculated as odds, the odds of rolling either one of these combinations is one in thirty-six. This then also means that either of these will have the highest pay – out because they are so hard to achieve.

The next set on the list is the three combinations and the eleven combinations. The odds of these two particular sets of combinations stand at one in eighteen. Next on the list is the ten combination and the four combination, in either case can be achieved in three different combinations making the odds considerably lower and thus the pay – out considerably lower as well. You have a one in twelve chance of rolling either a four or a ten combination.

A five or a nine combination can be achieved in four possible combinations of a roll resulting in a one in nine odds while a six or eight combination can be achieved in five different combinations, resulting in a on in seven chance or odds of coming up. The lowest odds and therefore the most common result and the lowest pay – out is a seven combination, there are six different ways this result can be achieved and has a one in six odds.
